Marriage and Couples Counselling That Will Make a Difference

Posted on: June 12th, 2017 by CoupleEnrichment No Comments

Do you have a vision of sharing a more intimate and loving relationship?
Do you know what yo need to do to make that vision a reality?
Have you considered couples counselling, but wondered if it was really for you?

Many people think of counseling as a last resort. Typically, couples seek help when they feel they can no longer deal with troubling issues, such as:

  • persistent conflicts and power struggles
  • lack of meaningful communication
  • differences in sexual desire
  • lost passion or less sexual intimacy
  • infidelity and feelings of betrayal
  • issues of trust
  • emotional disconnection (feeling of drifting apart)

The advantages of marriage (or couples counseling) are many. In our approach to couples counseling, both partners are present in the room at all times (see Couple Enrichment Approach™). This ensures a greater opportunity for understanding, and helps each partner appreciate his or her differences and similarities. It also creates an environment that fosters emotional connection in real time, encouraging the development of skills to maintain that connection. (Our Couple Intensive Retreats also include two therapists in the room, working co-jointly. This is commonly referred to as couple-to-couple counselling.)

Would our approach to Marriage Counselling address your specific needs?

Whether you attend our Retreat or arrange bi-weekly counselling, our dynamic counselling approach is intended to give each of you the opportunity to speak honestly, and openly in a private, nonjudgmental setting. Our focus is on developing a framework where you can hear, understand, and respond to each other, no matter what issues you bring to counselling.

We will work with you to help you become more emotionally connected and less reactive to each other. We will encourage you to become more responsive to each other, without losing your “selves” in the process. We will help you maintain a balance between holding on to your individuality and feeling intimate and close as a couple. And, we will show you how to create a safe haven within the relationship that extends to when you are out together in public.

Who typically attends our Marriage/Couples Counselling sessions or Intensives?

Couples who seek our marriage counseling services are at various stages of disconnect. Some may be having more difficulty than others. One or both partners may be holding on to just the slightest hope that counseling can turn things around.

Others may feel compatible, but feel that something is missing in their relationship. Perhaps work and family challenges, or personal life choices, have kept them from expressing their love fully.

Whatever might bring you to couples or marriage counseling, you will be glad you made the decision to get
your relationship back on track.

Fees for Couple Intensive Retreats (two therapists)

Most of our work with couples begins at our private “just for the two of you” Couple Intenive Retreats. This more intensive format helps lay the foundation for change, and will give you real-time experience over just a few days to help you move forward faster. Usually, both Louise and David work together as co-therapists during each Couple Intensive Retreat. You can work with only one of them if you prefer. For Retreat fees and availability, please read our Couple Retreat fees page.

Fees for Bi-Weekly Marriage or Couples Counselling (one therapist)

If you live within an hour of our Caledon office, and you would prefer to attend 1½ – 2 hour weekly or bi-weekly sessions, you can meet with David privately. David maintains his own bi-weekly Couples Counselling practice. His clients come from the GTA, Toronto, from cities such as Mississauaga, Etobicoke, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, London, Brampton, Guelph, Hockley Valley, Caledon, Shelburne, Alliston, and from the surrounding towns and villages near Orangeville.

To discuss David’s weekly/bi-weekly couples counselling fee structure, payment plans, and client schedule, please  phone him at 877-897-2333. You can learn more about David’s private practice here.

Counselling for Women (Trauma Recovery / Self-Esteem / Relationship Issues)

Louise maintains a private practice for women, focusing on women’s issues (trauma survival, emotional healing from abuse, relationship skills, self-esteem-building). She meets her clients individually, in person, for the first Consult. She also schedules sessions by phone or videoconference (Skype or FaceTime), depending on client needs. Please CALL or WRITE Louise for information about her services, fees, and scheduling.

If online counselling would be more convenient for you, you can sign up for online sessions with Louise.
CALL her to discuss this option.

Louise is also in the midst of making plans for a private workshop for 6-8 women to be held in 2017, focusing on healthy couple relationships. If you are interested in attending one of these workshops, please let her know.
